Show your G10's-

Hi Hunters, I need your input, some hunters aren't familar with the grading system. I would very much appreciate if probably the more experienced collectors would show their G10's.
This is my G8, I graded it this because its a common type, also it as a rather large percussion mark on it.
I've not seen this topic addressed so, show us those exquisit Points PLEASE !!!

Re: Show your G10's-

That's a killer point Molly! Is it a Kirk? Agatized coral? I have an agate Elko that looks a lot like it but mine has slight damage :( This is about as close to a G10 as I have. It's the less common variety of Elko (Split Stem) it's large for type and is made from a unique material. It's one of my all time favorites.

Re: Show your G10's-

Yes its a Kirk,Agatized coral. My best point todate ::)
That's a beautiful Elko, nice material.
Yes, it's very near a G10.
Thankyou for posting, c'mon guys get those G10's out. ::)

Molly. :)

Re: Show your G10's-

G10's are a very rare breed. In order to be a G10 a piece has to have perfect symmetry, be made of a high quality material, and have absolutely no damage. I'm not really sure if I have very many or even any that meet all three criteria. I have some very nice points and may have a few G9's and G8's, but I'm not sure about G10's.

Here's a few that might be close.

Re: Show your G10's-

Those are purty DF! Those G10's are hard to come by for sure.

Re: Show your G10's-

This is probably my best point that I actually found myself.

I don't remember the typology but it's a tiny beauty.

This is a really nice one that I did not find personally.

Found "out west in the 70s" is all I know.

Re: Show your G10's-

Not quite a 10, but one of my better points. T.

That is one sweet point! Is the material Edwards from Texas or KRF from the Dakotas?

Re: Show your G10's-

Steve, those points are beauties, it's so difficult to find a point that's symetrical, I'd class the blade as a G10 though, that's one of the nicest I've seen.

GL, that's a sweet little point, nice find. The other point is beautiful material.

T, it's not often we can find arrows with point intact, that's a fine example, very nice.

Thankyou for posting your best finds. Keep um comin'

Molly. :)

Re: Show your G10's-

Thanks for your comments arrow719 and Molly. It was found along the Red River on the North Dakota/Minnesota border so I'm pretty sure the material is KRF. Here's the other side:

Re: Show your G10's-

They look fine to me, all excellent and would definitely be centerpiece quality in any collection.
The second one has nicks in the edge so I guessed it would be graded lower than the first one which has what I would call nearly if not perfect-ish edges.

The bannerstone has deep scratches but is still finer than all the ones I've found(zero) just not as fine as others I've seen so 7 seems accurate. Grading seems very individual and based on the graders opinion rather than set rules.

Killer finds BTW.

Re: Show your G10's-

Thankyou Adam, I was hoping you'd post a few excellent finds. There's never much discussed about the grading system, so I thought it would make a good 'Thread'.
Some ppl are fortunate to live & hunt in states with fantastic material, point types too, others like myself are not. G10's are candy to the eye. I'm hoping someone will post a good example, to show new collectors mainly what a fine fine point looks like.
Thanks again Adam, much appreciated.

I know ppl grade their own points on just being 'nice' but, when a G10 IS posted ya'll will see what I'm talking about.
There are some really outstanding Points around, rarely shown.
Maybe Adam can get one of his buddies to post one on here.
Thanks for your input GL, much appreciated hon.

Molly. :)

Re: Show your G10's-

The first one shown, the Hardin, looks as perfect as any arrowhead I have ever seen.
The golden one posted by tchaire would also be amongst the finest points I have ever seen.
Does anyone have a photo of an accepted, graded G10 for me to drool over? Because if it's better than these two then I have to see it!

The craigslist point is more like a G5 IMO, it's nowhere near symetrical and it looks like the tip is nicked :icon_scratch:

Re: Show your G10's-

I was more hoping for genuine collectors to post their G10's & talk a bit about their finds. I find e-bay full of ppl trying to make fast money & selling fakes. I can find lots of pics of perfect points but, that's not what I was hoping. Just trying to keep this Thread real.

Molly. :)

Re: Show your G10's-

Personally I wouldn't grade any of those from GL's post as G-10's. None of the them are perfectly symetrical and a couple lok to have damage.

Re: Show your G10's-

Here is the best I can do for my best personal find in flint. I'll let everyone else do the grading, but thanks for looking!
