it's probably only because that looks like a lot of chaos in that picture if you had time to go back when you can take your time I'm sure you'd find something old

Headphones and the crew left. Unlnown INDIAN Head (my first!) unknown mens ring and a 1940 wheatie. Plus got perms just from ppl walking by. Streaking home im so excited!!!!

Buff nick no date (yet.) ring seems newer, no makers nark buy has concentric rings inside band as if machined. Tungsten carbide? Its got quite the patina on it.

How creepy would it be to show up at daybreak and start raking through the piles of dirt? This tracker 4 just isnt powerful enough!

nice buffalo nick. the ring is probably brass, and possible that it's not a ring but a ferrule. probably a ring though

Thanks! Huge ferrule though, fits my broken fingers quite nicely. Guess ill have it checked out. Never saw a ferrule this size with ridges inside before. Was telling the mrs this is my new wedding ring.

She was not amused.

Nice Buffalo nickel! I've found 2 and cannot date either! Thanks for sharing.

Great going so far! :notworthy: Hope you get back there. :icon_thumright:

Well, here's how non-creepy my one dawn dig at small sidewalk tear-out was: Nobody cared at all! A few passersby made friendly comments, and when the work crew showed up to start, they ignored me completely & I quietly took my leave. No problem! :icon_thumleft: Unless your tear-out is now tightly roped off or severely posted, you're probably gonna have no problems if you show up early to detect there. Sadly for me, the series of street tear-outs now happening in our oldest business district are tightly secured, meaning both the construction company and the city itself don't want anyone in there, so I'm staying out. :BangHead:

Have fun & best luck to you! :cat: :hello: Andi

Nice, check it good before they fill it with crush run and rebar..

Screamed at by a property owner for being on public frontage which was magically private property. Sigh. I apologized and left.

Search it while you can! There's more there! GL. HH!
I missed an opportunity here! That's the part that gets me what in the heck do they think you are damaging, the dirt!

She said she didnt want me to get hurt. Is the dirt going to attack me? Odd.

Nice finds. Keep at it. You're not doing anything wrong, just keep looking. I've only been kicked out of one road construction project. 95% of the time there will be zero issues.

Just don't give up. There are usually pockets of good coins around.

One I was searching one time...no coins in the first 30 minutes. Then...BAM!!! 1843 Large Cent and 1860 Indianhead in back to back digs in 2 minutes.

Just gotta keep looking.

Good Luck and Keep us posted.

Hit it and get it :) Such things are a once in a life time opportunity to crack the past. If the city workers don't mind, or if they do one can usually work out an arrangement, then don't let the neighbors bother ya. Might even help to put on a safety vest ;) Work slow and dig it all. Don't be surprised when the local detectorist start showing up in droves. Hahh might be a good time to make some friends.

Something very strange about that ring... :icon_scratch: I think its from the future and made out of microchips:dontknow:

Keep @ it and HH !! :hello2:

In all honesty i think it is a brass or copper compression fitting. Sure looks like a ring though :)

Not creepy at all, just serious.
