Hit my permission in the woods again. Found a few bits and pieces. few pieces of miscellaneous brass, half a buckle, 1927 merc someone took it upon themselves to redesign, glass button, two gold gilt buttons one is marked rich gilt the other A. Benedict extra rich and a button with Jacksons victory marked on the back. Not to shabby.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!! What would make someone do that to such a cool Merc? Still Nice!!!

Nice hunt you had. Personally I like the Merc. Adds a story to that cool old silver.

Have you ever taken a brand new penny and cut it in half to show someone it is not copper? Pennies are plentiful and will never be worth more than a penny right? I am sure this merc was decorated with the same philosophy Just a dime never worth more than a dime and decorated Still worth a dime. It is cool. My absolute favorite Buffalo nickels are "Hobo'd"
