I thought I'd share some items found today and last week. These were all recovered from a curb strip next to an old school I like to hunt. The Newfoundland 20 cent piece ( .925 ) is definitely something I didn't expect to dig! It didn't even ring up or sound like you would expect a larger silver coin to on the 800. It was about 7 inches down and at first I thought Barber...then silver Washington until I saw the Victoria profile. Honestly, I didn't even know this coin existed until I looked it up. It is also in very fine condition. Shortly after I dug this I found a large token that turned out to be Menter Clothing. Unfortunately, it's in rough shape but it's from Grand Rapids and operated from 1913-1928 on 313 Monroe NW. Also found a '35 wheat and '40 Jefferson but had to stop because the mosquitos were eating me alive and I had forgotten to use OFF.
Today, I went back to the same area and found another nice Grand Rapids token... this one in excellent shape! It's from Grand Rapids Savings bank ( 50 cents to open a one dollar account ). I found a photo of the building online... constructed in 1916. Also found a 1918 wheat, but the 86 degree heat was tough and was still getting mosquitos even though I had sprayed plenty of OFF before going out.
I'm looking forward to the cooler weather ; )
PS: updated the Nox today... didn't really notice much difference in the depth meter accuracy.
