Normally I would say "KEEP IT AND KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!" but in this instance I would have to defer to what Kiros said and that this collection IS MOST LIKELY HOT, and there is a collector out there that is very, very unhappy right now. I would probably submit to W&ET to see what kind of scratch you could get for the story and then notify the authorities before this kid (or the tellers) get smart. Having a big collection of silver coins is cool but not when it is someone elses man. You never know. You could circumvent the whole process and find out the kid is dumping an inherited coin collection and buy them straight from him, or you could make whoever he is stealing or stolen them from very happy by returning them (for the amount of money you put in of course).

I'm sorry but that is the worst advice I have ever heard on this forum. I mean no offense man but keep your speculations to yourself. Keep riding the gravy train and say nothing. Besides even if it were stolen odds are you paid cash form them so no paper tail to you. Your way just seems so tedious and besides why would we want one of these stories in a treasure magazine? Aren't we trying to keep this hobby low key. Bad advice man. Bad advice.

the way these coins are coming in is odd --either a coin collection the kid got when gramps or dad died and has no clue of the worth or esle hes "smurf" stealing a older relatives coincollection ( which is very likely *) --if its A --then find out and offer to get the whole stash from JR --if its B your just enabiling a theif to dump his goods --if so watch out he might see you get em and follow you home to target "your" collection * by breaking in when your not around --its been known to happen , -- karma is a wicked thing.

OMG... Come on guys. Speculation. Speculation. To me IDK why the coins got there in the first place. That is moot point. Even if it is from a stolen collection who cares. Its in yours now. It would be up the authorities to prove that but I highly dought it would even come to that unless your dumb enough to bring that to their attention. Just keep checking back at the bank and keep it low key and all will be good. Also to think someone is/would follow you home it sounds a little paranoid. Words of advice. RELAX. It's all good. This topic is highly humorous to me.

This could be legit, but it smells really bad. The teller should get the kids phone number and check it out IMHO.

This thread is over 3 years old. He's probably done cashing in by now.

let it die already
