Hi Everyone,
Been away for a few days, nice to see all the great new finds
While off on my visit, I searched my first plowed fields, a total of 2.5 hours.
A portion of town land trust being leased by a young couple who were plowing a field untouched for decades, they were using a beautifully restored 1950 Farmall tractor & Disc harrow. I introduced myself, spoke a bit about the tractor and their plans,
then presented a card and asked for permission to search the field,
'sure thing' they said, and off I went.
nothing spectacular, one small heavy (13 grams) sterling spoon made it worthwhile. heavily plow damaged, I heated & straightened the handle and bowl ding,
came out nice. did some research on this piece, found nothing about any 'Amcraft'
flatware, just teaballs
surrounding the Madonna on the front is:
'O Mary Who Conceived Without Sin Pray For Us Who Have Recourse To Thee', on rear a mark 'TLM?', A heart with nail, and heart with sword surrounded
by stars, made by 'Amcraft Sterling' probably early/mid 20th century.
I showed my finds to the farmers, & offered a payment on the silver,
They showed little interest and politely declined
Would love to know the significance of the TLM symbol, maybe a religious order ?
A couple of what I think are 'bird bands' and some plated flatware.
and a '48 Wheat. (lots of aluminum sardine cans, from field workers?)
Oh yeah, broke my 'biggest horseshoe' record, note the Cent in photo.
Best Digs to all & Thanks for Looking
