"Silver" Dollars

Pretty sure I am about to search someone else's dump.. But I made my tellers happy.



I came in to dump the dimes I'd searched and the coins I'd MD'd, and the gal asked how long it took me to accumulate them. I said not long since I by boxes to search through, and the other teller IMMEDIATELY said "YOU COLLECT COINS?! Do you want some silver dollars? We had someone deposit a bunch, and I have no clue what I'm going to do with them..." So I'm headed home with $290 in dollar coins. All I see with a quick look is Ikes, but I'm hoping for something interesting.

Anything other than the obvious to look for?

From the picture you gave, Ikes are all I can see. Sometimes non-collectors can lead you on a wild goose chase. Good luck,!

All I can think of to look for is silver and proof.

There are varieties also that can be worth more than silver melt.

There aren't really any noteable Eisenhower varieties, unless you are talking about the Susan B. Anthony wide rim.

Man thats actually an awesome find-id love ti have a big bag of Ikes like that to search through- for silver and the 72 types- then resale them- you can usual2find a buyer for them bewtween $1.10-$1.25 each sometimes even $1.50 each
Post them on Craigslist and you should definitely make a small profit

There aren't really any noteable Eisenhower varieties, unless you are talking about the Susan B. Anthony wide rim.

Actually there are different reverse designs. I believe they are on the 1972 coins. Also the 1973s are harder to find. I believe they were issued in mint sets only.

1971 Friendly Eagle Variety
1972 Type 2 Eisenhower
Any 1973 (any mint mark)
Proof Eisenhowers (They have an S mint mark.)
Also, some 1971 - 1974 S minted Ikes COULD be silver. Any 1971-S or 1972-S Ike is silver.

I used to get the $ coins like that and spend them all locally, gas, groceries, etc. Some came back to me via local parks and school yards. Too bad they don't circulate everywhere as $ coins make a difference when your clad hunting.

I would look out for "the other teller". She double dumped you. Now she doesn't have to count 'em or disperse 'em through withdrawals.
Banks are to make you happy. Not you them.

She probably didn't know what she had. Besides, that's what we're here for, to take them off their hands so they don't have to count them. That's why we"take them all"!

That was my thought enamel - I'm still new to the game, so I'm doing everything I can to build relationships with tellers. And, at least at the moment, I have the ultimate "dump" bank - I can swap the coins for cash before making the nightly deposit at work, so I have been buying EVERYTHING tellers don't want - halves, "gold" and "silver" dollars and $2 bills. I check them for anything of interest, the "dump" them in the deposit at work
