As per your suggestion.... here it is. Thanks ZodiacD.
You can read the whole story on here under, "This could have been a once in a lifetime hunt!".

This is an accumulation of my 3 hunts at a private location. I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I enjoyed finding it. Good luck to you!

Heres what happened on the last hunt...

We ventured off to our semi local spot. Pretty cold today...not raining but close to it. Our coldest day to hunt...with lots of wind. We tried to make the best of it.
As per our last hunt not much to report. Coins are becoming very hard to find. A few coins but nothing to get really excited about. I had a few signals in the dollar range but no joy. We searched all over and was getting colder and evening was approaching. I headed over to Danny to see how hes doing and he thought I was done for the day....I pretty much was. I got a good dollar signal and had to dig it up... and did....and got a nice piece of ol rusted iron. I look at my battery strength and Im at 8.23 volts....not much time left....at 8volts it dies and forgot my spare battery...So, I will give it till it quits. I headed over to another area that both of us worked for a little while. I got a boucing signal with some good tone. Lots of iron signal too. I wanted to move on and remember about all the extra iron in the ground so I switched to analyze. Signal wave was smooth but not good....at least not what it should be. Then, I switched to pinpoint. Huge signal. Different than Ive got before with iron and was very strong on good conductors. I start to dig... I dont see anything. Then, I see a plastic bag....Ive gotten bags before with nothing in them. Pull it up and nothing was there. Then, I see some shiny wire. I look closer and it looks like hoops....3 of them. What the heck is it? Sure looks like some kind of silver...or am I just tired? I pull a bit more and it sure looks like one nice long chain. I called to Danny. I said look at this. He said...."looks great...maybe gold"? I continue to pull. More plastic sack and debris comes up and I know have now, 3 separate chains. Danny checks and its .925 silver. Nice! I continue to check the hole and theres signals everyplace. About 4 pieces of iron come up. Then a glimmer! Another chain! Still more signals in the hole. I see more silver! I pull out more and more and more...there is so many I cant count them all! I dont know if its the cold or nerves but Im shaking a bit. I continue to probe and get more iron screws, bolts and a 3 inch iron spring. Then, I see it....MORE Silver!....and Larger! I gingerly pull out more chains out of the water drenched soil. Danny and I are both laughing and trying to figure out.....WHY?
I get more iron bits and then see an outline of a ring. I then pull out a pretty heavy ring! NOW, Rings too! Wow what else
huh.gif

I checked the hole profusely...more iron but no other good targets that we can detect. Danny counted them....99 Sterling Silver chains & 1 Silver ring....go figure.

I still cant quite come to terms with this. Im exausted but my blood is pumping. I dont think I will be able to sleep....again.

In total, 30 Silver Dollars(oldest 1881-o), 1 Silver Half Dollar, 3 Silver Rings, 10 OZ .999 Silver bar, 287 Wheat back pennies(some steel), 4 silver coins, 1 Silver drop & several pounds of .925 Sterling Silver chains.

What an amazing find!! Did teh homeowner own a jewelry store or what!

That property has been very good to you and your buddy!

Thank you all for your support! You know we will do our best to find what is there. My v3i has done a great job in finding this hoard. It really helps in "weeding" out the trash and trust me there was alot of it.

We have done some research our own as well as talking with the owner of the property. He says there was a store there at one time. He remembers that they sold nick nacks, as well as everyday items. There was not a jewelry store there but they could have sold jewelry items. There was a jewelry store break in about 30 miles away but it was mostly gold, diamonds and other similar things that were taken but the case was solved as they found all the items under a bridge.

If I may say so... the key is learning....and knowing your detector! Ive only been doing this for about 3 years. I was told that I would not find very much around here. At first, it was true. A few coins. My first silver ring...then first gold ring etc. Its a learning process and takes time....to get it right. I have been blessed with finding lots of things but nothing to this degree. I have been to many areas....I know they have been hunted at least off and on...for years. Ive found newly lost things but also old things(100 years or more). I know people have hunted it but lucky for me...I have learned something in the past few years to be more successful at it. I would venture to say, that 1 year ago or so, I would not have found some of these things. Each time I go out, I try to learn something ....and to get better. Ive dug at least 20,000 holes in the past few years and can guess.... to some degree how long its been there. Gold and silver in the ground is pretty much the same. Wipe it off and its good to go....nothing like other metals as you know. But depending on how deep it is...what kind of area it is.....and how crusted and "infused", the dirt is... are just some clues to help you somewhat figure " generally" how long its been in the ground. I would guess some of the items at least 30-40 years....some could be much longer. It is obivious, that a collector lived/worked at this location at one time. The remains of coin books was the clue to that.
Were they lost/buried all at one time or were they different times? Or....were they by chance been more than one person....and/or different times??? Have the some of the Silver Dollars been in the ground for 132 years? I dont think so....but I dont know for sure that they have not.
Its a good mystery...but not unlike Jimmy Hoffa....and Bigfoot...unless Kreskin does a much better job....I dont think we will ever know for sure.

As JT1080 says...."persistence pays". He is O' so right!

My thanks to Dewcon, Bryce B. and Andy S. for putting up with my many questions and helping me when I got started.

I remember a very short time ago when I looked down and saw the reeded edge of my first silver dollar, peeking out of the earth....I was extremely excited...to say the least! I thought that was my one and only for many years or maybe forever. Little did I know what was coming. I still shake my head ....but I do smile!
