Metal Detecting
Found this today in the woods outside of a college that dates back to 1850. The metal appears to be silver. The back appears to be brass or copper.
Hard to tell if the shape is a heart(?) or a leaf(?) Notice the bust of a female. Notice that the post is bent straight up against the back. Don't know if it is a pin, pendant, earring or a button. Maybe someone has seen something like this. If I had to guess I would say it is early 20th century. Looked forever online and could not find anything comparable. It may just be old inexpensive jewelry.

To me it looks like stamped aluminum.

Looks like 1/2 of a puffed heart charm, c. 1910.

I would like to see a better picture (clearer) of the back please.

IMO it looks like a "post earring" ,,,

With the "earring back" in place.

I agree we need a better/clearer back photo to determine exactly what it is/was. The way it looks now, it could be either one of the 4 things already mentioned, brooch, pendant/charm, earring or stick pin.
