Saturday got out and found a pair of nickels..a 1945 S war nickel, my third, and a buffalo nickel (no date visible) right after that dig, just to the side of it. Today I went somewhere else and got a good signal at 88-89 and turned over the dirt and found this grandaddy ring. The ring was so fat I thought it was just a big aluminum bottle cap at first. Within a few minutes just about 15 feet away another good 87-88 signal and I am thinkin omg, another ring, and boom, out it pops from an inch deep. Made my weekend hunts all worthwhile. :icon_pirat: I took a pic before and after cleaning the rings.

Awesome Finds! That big dog SS ring is sweet. Like the war nickel also, I'm still looking for one.

wow nice two fer on the rings . nice digs on all those nickles . tis the season. Rob :coffee2:

Oh yeah , two silvers rings in one day is so sweet - if I find just one silver ring, my day is in the
bag ! you found a buffalo as well ! MXT rocks ! ( they do seem to hog down on silver rings)
Argentium.

Excellent finds! The interesting thing about those silver war nickels is the fact that they can I.D. anywhere on the meter. I've had them I.D. as foil, pulltab, zinc penny, nickel, and silver coin!? Did the metal composition change between 1942 - 45 on the war nickel? Not sure why they I.D. all over the map?

Yes it did jump around a bit from 20 - 50 on the MXT. they are made of 56% copper, 35% silver and 9% manganese is why.

that is really a nice ring. Maybe turquoise?

That is a great couple of hunts... Congrats :icon_thumright:

The stone(s) is Malachite, (carbonate of copper,) It is about the same hardness of turquoise. It does make a nice setting. I usually use larger pieces for pendants.

Overall, the ring is impressive. Congratulations. Great find.

Hey Ryan, great belated finds greating here. I didn't see your more recent posts until I did a search from your profile (I thought you hadn't been out MD'ing.) I'd been doing a general search from the home page and it wasn't picking up all of them! :coffee2: Ahhhh....

Yeah, that's a major hunk of silver there in that ring, you'd probably hurt yer toe if you dropped it on it!!! You guys have the best ring hunting grounds out there.
