I was finally able to get out today after at least a month of detecting withdraws. I hit up the back yard area of an 1885 house where I previously found a nice assortment of old coins in the front yard. The back yard was packed with iron and trash. Picking out good targets proved to be very difficult. I was able to get some keepers though. The broach is probably my favorite. You may be able to tell from the picture that it's broken into pieces but I was able to salvage them all from the hole. Any ideas on age for the ring and broach?

Thanks for looking!

Maybe The Picture Size Is To Large?

4th picture post attempt
FAIL! Anyone else having issues posting pics? They are all iPhone pics as usual so they aren't too large. I've never had this issue before.

It may not be you, something else is having a problem.

Now that the photo function works, here are the photos for this thread.

my guess on the ring is 1960's or 1970's. I believe the brooch is 1910's. I found one very similar several years ago.

Do you think a jeweler could reshape the ring without breaking it? The band is really thin.

Now thats what I call a great day detecting. Congrats.

shouldn't be a problem at all. silver is really soft. it is actually a really poor choice of material for rings because it bends and scratches so easily.

What a great day! What method did you use to clean up the tokens? Are they aluminum? I have a toasted aluminum token and I could use some advice.

They are indeed aluminum. I find quite a few of them and as you know, they come out of the ground very toasty. I aggressively take #0000 steel wool to them and they clean up great. Aluminum is tougher than one would think. Hope this helps.

Delightful collection! :hello2: IF I'd dug these all on same day, would've been hollering! The stone in the brooch may be topaz - I have two older topaz & silver rings whose stones look identical in color to your brooch. HAVE FUN! Andi
