Hello all hope you've been out and swinging
We ( B.o.B ) have been working an area that was a colonial road
We just started this site this year but so far
We have pulled an 8 reale 1 reale a few coppers , and some relics
Today was a good day !
I was out with Bartek he did good with 6 nice flat buttons and some coins
I pulled 1 toasted copper , a shield nic , store token , three buttons
And a stunning silver (hall marked need help please ) I think is a snuff box in a one condition
That was the find of the day !!
Thanks for looking happy hunting good luck

That is a great find. Ive found lots of old silver coins but old silver pieces like that are a rare dig. Hope you get a date on it

Sorry I couldn't be there today with you Basstards. But Charlie I edged and trimmed the lawn, mulched the flower beds, weeded the lawn, mowed, blew leaves and emptied the gutters. Installed a potty training seat, plumbed in a fixture, and snaked the drain...

Ok, yes, enough. Great silver box. See u tomorrow Holmes

That's a really cool case... love it!

That's one of the coolest things I've seen found in quite a while. Things like that are what makes this hobby fun. Awesome!

Dear god, that snuff box is one of the most exquisite things I've seen posted here. I look forward to finding out how old it is and from whence it came. Congrats

Great day of digging! Before I explanded the picture of the snuff box I was sure that the image was mother Mary and you had a silver case for rosary beads. Now I see that it is an old dude bellied up to the bar. Oh well, I was close :laughing7:

Awesome find Charlie. Sounds like you both had a great day digging. Wish I could help with the hallmark.

Heck of a nice little silver case..........

That snuff box is incredible! It would be insane to dig something like that and it's in perfect condition. Well done man.

I don't know much about hallmarks, but I googled for "lion and key hallmark" and found some answers to some of it.... Maybe! Perhaps Dutch. Lion passant make with the 2 is for second standard of purity = minimum 83.3% silver. The key is a tax mark stating it was to be exported. I don't really know much about these marks, but that's what a quick search turned up. Dutch Hallmarks - Encyclopedia of Silver Marks, Hallmarks & Makers' Marks

That's exactly what I like about this hobby you just never know what's there!

Charlie, that is one of the most unique finds I've seen! I was stoked to hold that in my hands today! The craftsmanship on it is amazing, and it's condition is remarkable! Def one of your better finds! I have no idea how many of these are out there & and if you didn't just score a banner for ur 8 Reale, I'd vote this ... Actually I will.

Ps. I agree this hobby is amazing!

No luck yet on the other impression, but I've never looked into makers marks before so it's like swimming with one arm even with Google. Hopefully one of the sterling experts sees this.

The snuffbox is a absolutely beautiful piece. Congrats!
