Where do I start? Well I’ve been very lazy these past couple of days work is very slow between Thanksgiving and Christmas no one’s looking to buy houses during this time so I’ve just been laying around. I decided to go to a park that I been to since I first started detecting 5 years ago. I knew there was history there because I found a CS Civil War Infantry Horn Badge about a foot deep. So I decided to go deep in this small spot dropping my recovery speed down to 2 running it hot at 23. Well the bad thing about wanting to go deep is you have to dig it and the VDI numbers are just a small tool it’s also sound, depth and luck. So after digging about eight deep holes I had enough my laziness has kicked in and my mental warfare for me to go home was overtaking me. I notice I started swinging back toward my truck and I hit a crazy sound that I had a squeak in it and it was deep. So I said last hole. I dug about 9-10 inches a there it was a 1806 Half Real!! I couldn’t believe it not a this spot been over it a million times. But there it was in my hand I sat on my butt and just looked at it I took a picture of it took a picture of the hole and took a picture of how close I was to my truck. I must admit I have gotten a 1801 half real before and although I loved it and I was so so close to the 1700s. I’ve never been there and it’s been a dream ever since. So anyway I got up to put the dirt back in the hole after my high was wearing off and I swung by coil over the dirt that was already dug out and hit a solid 26. OMG!!! My hands started shaking because I knew it was going to be good and it was. For the first time a Spanish spill, double bucket lister 1787 1 Reales!!! Truly one of the best days of my life and I’m very lucky that that I could share it with you guys. Never give up. 69486B7D-8D2A-4C89-AB1B-8654B2C87209.webp1E1FF928-F4F3-4C9E-9BE3-9AF94CEE752E.webp71C2065F-832E-4BDD-A7AD-D8967945C96C.webpView attachment 1657286DE6BFC42-88F5-4EDD-8989-8D00155E3108.webpView attachment 1657287IMG_0012.webpIMG_0012.webpIMG_0012.webpIMG_0012.webpIMG_0012.webp

Wow T, those suckers were deep. Incredible recoveries! I’ve been reading about the history of New Orleans recently and thinking about you. Certainly lots of old activities of all types in your quarters. Keep the good stuff coming my friend!

I appreciate that coming from you washingtonian. I can say we have our share of history and Spanish Reales :)

Way to go Truth ! A double Spanish silver dig has got to be exciting !

I LOVE seeing Spanish silver in the old, congrats on that silver spill!

I love that sandy looking soil you have, that should be kind to coins and relics eh?

You’re right I woke up thinking just go swimming anyway who cares just get out the house so I went to the spot that I always find nothing one more hole one more high squeak and I pulled out to Spanish the last thing in the world I thought was gonna happened to me today. The oldest coin I ever found there was an old roached up 1899 Indian, some buffs and a SLQ in my 5 years of detecting in a small spot 15 x 30. Hell I think I started at that spot with my Bounty Hunter lol

That shows you what the Equinox brings to the table. I doubt your old Bounty Hunter would have found that coin.....even if you knew it was there! :laughing7:

That's a home run...love finding Spanish and would be over the moon finding two!

Yeah that was actually a nice spot in Louisiana we have all sorts of soil including that Louisiana clay which in the summer is like asphalt.
