silver thumbnails

hello.

these are two thumbnails I found some time ago.

the open one was made around 1700

the other one with the flowers was made around 1780

Here in the US, they are called "thimbles". Neat finds!

I can tell the age ,because I have a book about old thimbles.

that book has pictures of thimbels from the 4th century untill modern thimbles.

I've only found a few brass ones, and one aluminum one. No silver ones... yet.

I have some with designs on the bottom also. They are hard to find over here in silver also. But they do come up.

Wow! Those are cool bubbas, and I've seen them go for big €€€€ at antique fairs. I've never found a single one, you must be hunting around old sewing shops or something?
