Did some scrounging at my local dump and found a very beautiful mirror someone had thrown away. Thought it was silver-plated at first but quickly discovered a silver mark on it that I recognized - the stamp was an Egyptian silver hallmark representing 90% pure silver! I've only found Egyptian silver once before in my whole life so it was a nice surprise to see that mark again!
This hallmark has been in use continuously since 1916 and is still used today, the "9" followed by two dots represents ".900/1000" or "90% Silver". I would bet the mirror dates from the first half of the 20th century. This type of mirror apparently was not designed to have a handle as our western mirrors do, instead it has a small silver bird that sticks out on the back that can be grasped between the fingers and the mirror can be held in this manner.
The mirror itself is cracked, likely the reason it was disposed of to begin with, but hey it's found treasure so no complaints here!
