It is solid silver ,12 grams my guess was maybe the top to either coin or pill thing from 1800s

It could be the cover to a screw cap that belonged to a hip or boot flask.

I almost bought a glass hip flask that had a silver cover for the flask,the flask slipped into the silver cover. It had an aluminum cap that had a silver top that covered the aluminum screw cap. It was prohibition era and unfortunately they wanted to much for it.

Is the piece on the back attached only on one side, or is it attached in the middle too? If it's only attached on one end, then I would assume it's made to slide over a piece of clothing or paper.....etc. I'm leaning toward it being the frame piece of a cameo. ???? I'll hunt for some pics to back that up.
