Detected a friend's 1600-era yard for an hour. Didn't find anything particularly old, but did find a gorgeous 1940 half dollar. Question - how best to clean it without in any way doing more harm than good?
Well coins found in the ground are graded ED eviornmentally damaged so most coins are just worth the silver content value even key dates lose value being in the ground to collectors so if not a key date I wouldnt worry to much about damaging it if you clean it up to you. Very nice find.
