These were found in warren county, NJ. It is a mix of broken debitage. In this mix there is a tie on whale tail banner with a broken wing. You can see the notches. Another is a early archaic knife. The part that looks like it is chipped is actually ground and intentional. I believe it was the hafting point. The this cylinder type stone. It has a couple of grooves around it but for the life if me I have no idea what it is. Then there is a stone I call the poop stone. I think it may be fossilized doo doo..I found it in the heart of a village site so I have no idea what it is.....anyway check them out. There are knives, gravers, spokeshaves, and broken points in this mix of debitage.......enjoy

I like all of it!! Well, I really don't like the crap stone that much... But...

Glad you can post pics, GTP...great stuff.
The cylinder is really interesting..
Thanks

I could be wrong..of course "right" but the cylinder looks like a rod from an old battery.

It's nice to see you posting photos.
Not so nice finding half of those.

I did not give that a thought until you posted your comment but you may be right about that Gator, I have found those while digging for bottles from the 1890's -1915 sites. Not exactly what GTP posted, but close. BTW, The ones that I found were light in weight.

Or even a sash weight if heavier. Looks like the top broke off either way.

About time! :laughing7: No, it's good to see some of your pictures. Cool Finds! :icon_thumleft:

Its not a sash weight. It is perfectly flat on the bottom and the top the same. It looks machined but not sure. It is to perfect. I do not know of it being a battery terminal.i would think it was to big and would think it would need to be drilled for that. Again I don't know though. It is about 3inches long and about 3/4 " wide. It is stone of some type. It does have 3 perfect incised lines on it as well.

I know.. I know......don't you worry D I'll get out some more and offer up some visual candy for ya kid!!!.........lol

Sash weights are about a foot long and have a drilled flange end for rope. p
Plus they were made of cast iron and lead. This is stone and is not drled but to perfect to be hand made. The bottom us flat and does not have a pilot hole for a battery terminal stud. Unless they used stone for that which I never heard of but who knows it could be.

Sounds like a graphite battery rod. those weren't terminals.. there were many of them inside of early batteries. The top where it's broken would have been a greasy rubber type gasket with a small piece of metal sticking up.

If its stone, I would guess it is a core sample. But, why the lines? Strange. Looks like it has iron content.

Great to see you posting pictures! Looking forward to seeing some more eye candy. I have been going thru some buckets and finding tools I missed or at least some secondary edge work not so sure about some being tools
