Got in some beach time today after work, we have some great late summer warmth here in Chicago!
Finally found some interesting stuff today. Along with the usual items, clad coins and nails I found what looked to be a key. I was able to remove the concretions, carefully, with pliers, eating it away. I'm amazed even the delicate square ends survived the surgery! Any idea what time frame a key like this would be?
Next was the gold earring. Its marked 10k on the bar. Now for the bad news, my Garrett 150 never saw it, I did, at the edge of the surf. After I saw the 10k mark I passed it over the coil repeatedly and it only beeps when I touch it to the coil, and even then not consistently. This makes me crazy wondering what else I've been missing! The 150 see's coins great, but if it can't see gold I'm in trouble! Admittedly its light, doesn't even register as a gram, but come on little Garrett you find tiny pieces of foil so well!
Still, a great afternoon/evening, thanks for looking!
