Hi Gare. No, 99.99% of the time they hop away from people. I snuck up on those feeding and they did eventually spot me but were too interested in the grass. Occasionally a big old rogue male has a go at people but you might only hear about that type of thing once or twice a year. I did meet a guy a few months ago that was attacked by one and it did some serious damage to him, wrecked his knee and one of the gashes on his leg got really infected and it was touch n go him keeping it. Eventually it healed. I have never felt worried by them personally.

Hi, yeah they will go a dog if the dog goes for them but they won't go out of their way to do so. I used to hunt a lot yrs ago and had my dogs chase a big male. If there is water nearby the roo will head for it and go in to its waist depth and wait for the dog, as soon as the dog gets within reach the roo will grab its head and drown it. Luckily my dogs listened and came out of the water after a few calls from me and a couple of drown attempts by the roo.
Funny. Two dogs were Bully crosses and one a lunatic old fashioned longer legged fox terrier. No joke the Foxy would now and then catch a roo on its own.
If he got to chase one through thick scrub where the roo got slowed down by it that was it. He'd latch onto the roo just where the top of the tail joins the rear, torso. And he'd hang on for the ride slowing down and eventually exhausting the roo by throwing its balance. When it was utterly exhausted he'd go in for the kill on the throat. He was unbelievable. You had to see it to believe it. A little foxy taking down a roo. He was a lunatic, he wasn't a great pet, he just lived for hunting.
