Why would the coin star reject those nickels? Aren't those 40's nickels the same as new ones? Gary

I think some coinstars keep their reject chute open a bit too long after rejecting a bad coin and that results in a slug of problem-free coins following the foreign or damaged or corroded zinc. I wonder if the machines can be adjusted to minimize this but it works better for those of us who check reject trays this way. Last week, I grabbed a handful from a reject tray that turned out to be 37 pennies, one of which was a wheat cent. I suspect they followed one corroded zinc down the chute.

Hi Gary,
My post may have been unclear...I meant to say the coinstars are not giving up much but I also coin mine and the nickels are from coin mining and not the coinstars...

Nice 'almost silver' nickel finds CS... if you were detecting, I'd say you were due to find silver soon.

Best of luck to you in your search,
Dave

Someone mentioned on t net that nickels were the funnest...so I usually go with nickels...one bank won't take any more nickels from me because they never use them...and don't have any more new rolls to give...
