We waited four years to detect across the road from the site that we have found civil war bullets, buttons and seated coins. After they bush hogged the area, my son
and I started hunting and he found 1828 and 1843 large cent, 1854 three cent piece and 2 & 3 ring bullets. I started out by finding bullets as well but my best find was a
1846 WW Wilber Merchant Auctioneer and Notary public token. We were very happy to start finding some good stuff again. Here's a photo of the front and back of
the token.

Very interesting find, and in great condition

That's a really cool token! You did well with the other coins and bullets too but that token is far more interesting!

awesome find! If you have trouble researching it, send picture to Mark Parker of Western and Eastern Treasure magazine. He's the best researcher. He may have a website to send it to for faster info.

Hi SURF, I did find a lot of information on wilber tokens, thanks for looking. coinz

That is a GREAT token to find--and in Fantastic condition, too!

Congrats,

Buck

Now that is a really cool piece of history. Adding it to the bucket list.

Hello coinz,

Excellent find. I'm sure you probably found this:

The W.W. Wilbur Auctioneer Tokens, Charleston SC | NovaNumismatics.com

Nice find Coinz. The NovaNumismatics.com site with its WW Wilbur research and die-study is my site.

The specimen you found -- can you tell whether it is brass or copper, or is it struck on a planchet made from some other metal?

Thanks,

CC

You're welcome. The specimen has the catalogue number Miller-SC-2. It possesses an estimated Rarity Rating of R-2 (200-499 surviving specimens in present existence.)
