I wish I had everything i ever found - started detecting in 1975 (age 13) - I have like 3 coins from my first 20 yrs hunting.- 1899 barber quarter XF condition, 1918 over 17 - S mint in VF/XF stand lib. quarter, and a Spanish
1 real. I had a ton of stuff from land hunting in my early yrs. I wish i had at least taken pics back then but
alas i did not. I had a ton of silver coins and relics from hitting cellar holes and farm fields back then
Needed money back then and 2 divorces in the 90s and all that stuff was gone. Everything in albums is from 1995 to present and because of health issues i havent got out at all the last few yrs.
Right there with ya, started hunting dirt in 69' with a Heathkit that we actually had to build, then got a Coinmaster IV in 1971. I think I still have most of the finds I've made over the years, just have to find where I have them stashed, lol. I probably spent some clad quarters over the years, but never sold any bling or old coins, so I should have bags of finds around here somewhere. Once I find those, I'll snap some pics with my cellphone camera, at least to have for memory purposes and to share if anyone else wants to see.
I don't think I have any pics of hunting back in the day, but I'll have to look through my mom's old photo albums, she may have taken some pics of me at competition hunts. But what the younger generation seems to forget, is that back when you and I were starting out, pics needed to be taken by a film camera. Film cost money, then getting the pics developed cost money, so we were very judicious in the pics we took. Even back in 2011, when I switched over to beach hunting, I didn't take any pics out while hunting, too busy and moving too fast, and I think I had a flip phone back then, lol. But occasionally, I'd break out the Cannon digital camera and take a few shots of finds when I got back and got them cleaned up. But nowadays, with my cell phone, I can whip that out, shoot some video, take dozens of pics without worry, because as we all know, digital "film" is cheap, lol.
