small button

found another button today at lunch at the 1800s site,this one is small 1/2 inch
plain front with writting on back ,can't make out . any ideas?

I think it says PLATED. Looks like early to mid 1800's working man's button.

probably nickel plated

Buttons with the stamp "PLATED" were silver plated buttons. Most of the time the plating is worn off. Buttons stamped "GILT" were gold plated. My guess is first half of the nineteenth century.
