I decided to stretch my legs a little and took the detector to a local beach on Cape Ann, but with little success: bottle caps, pull tabs, batteries, assorted melted aluminum, and one clad dime made up the haul. I found this in one of the holes though: a small (half-inch diameter) ceramic sphere. I've found clay marbles in my garden (the house predates the 1880s, and was a former boarding house), but this is much smaller in size and seems to be made of a coarser grade of clay with visible inclusions. The only codd-bottle balls ive seen were glass. I've found ceramic shotgun pellets, but they seemed smaller and of a higher-grade material. Any ideas?
