FINALLY starting to see some estate sales pop up in my area. Went to 2 this morning. The first one was my absolute favorite scenario: Old Jewish family, parents passed and sale held by family, modest home in the nicest town in South Jersey, old money area. Sadly, these folks held a pre-sale to which I did not attend. It was evident that the place was picked over by the time I got there (even though I was an early-bird). That's ok, I can usually manage to find something. Picked up a great decorative and local advertising piece thermometer. Check out that 3 digit phone number! The other stuff is just chaff but I only paid $4 for everything. Hopefully a sign of things to soon come.
Later I stopped by my "go-to" metal detecting spot. A large farm in a very old area right near my house. All the tractors were out in the middle of the field. I stopped to learn that the owner just died. The fields are already leased out to someone else which means my permission is rescinded. The guy I spoke to invited me to the farm auction but I dont need any tractors right now. I asked about Indian artifacts or coins. He said none are for sale but he would show me his personal collection but lamented that he probably wouldnt sell me anything. Oh well...
