Quite a few countries use aluminum-bronze alloys for coins. Cheap and easy.

Aaaah I've been there, found a bronze/al $20 (peso) coin, came out shiny, gold, small, and heavy. When I saw that $20 I was like THIS IS IT! then I saw the Mexican coat of arms...
