You can get in a little tighter, around the swingsets etc. at the park! They great for coin shooting too. Anyplace you know change has been dropped, I use mine around places like the concession stand at the ball fields, they pretty much x the need for a pinpointer because they are so small, and don't reach as deep!

Most of the clad I find while using it, you could pop out of the ground with an old pocket knife or small flathead?!?! $0.02

I believe that they are really good for target/trash separation also. Peeps usually use them around parks where there is a lot of trash.

Great like the guys said for those areas u can't use a big coil great to for foundations, under playground equipment, lots of places, trashy areas, u won't cover as much ground like the bigger coil but u will b able to pinpoint a target quicker & weave in & out of trash

We had a Fisher CZ7 about 12 years ago. We used a 4" coil in trashy places. It was a great machine that you could swing super slow in discriminate mode. Amazing combination! I used it in tandem with my XLT, which is the exact opposite machine.

So my standard coil on my 350 will not work so well around the tot lot equipment? I have about 10-15 playgrounds in and around my area, just waiting for this damn heat wave to go away! But everything I been reading guys and gals are using a smaller coils. Looks like I might have to think about purchasing one.

No no course ur standard will work its just the smaller one is gonna make see in ur targets easier by limiting how many at one time r under ur coil & its gonna let u get closer to the equipment to

LifeNRA, Think of slowly waving a flashlight on the ground looking for coins. You shine near the metal playground equipment and the light also hits the metal posts.

Now think of slowly moving your Lazer at the same ground with its smaller light. You don't hit the metal posts but you can hit on coins nearer to the posts.

Huh that's,good I never heard of it put that way I like that

That small coil is great around concession stands that are loaded with pull tabs, I pulled a lot of change with the sniper on my AT Pro.

What does the smaller coil do for you? I see some use them in different areas, why? What are the benefits of one coil to the other?
Advantages using a smaller coil:
1.Better target separation
2.Lighter to swing
3.Easier to pin point
4.You can sometimes work closer to fixed metal objects like fences, post, swing sets, etc
5. More sensitive to smaller targets
Disadvantages:
1.Takes longer to cover an area
2.Possible loss of depth depending on models involved

Thanks all, very good info! ;) Think ill try with my standard coil before I start buying more equipment. Hopefully by setting the machine with out any iron notches will help as well. Thanks again!!! ;)

Tot lots are great for flash money for battery's or a drink.
The cellar holes in the country are where the smaller coil shine also...you must know where a lot of those are,Relic hunting is a lot of fun, and some very old coins hang around them holes too.
