Smittyman Finds Silver!

It’s a rare and wonderful event, when all of the stars align and Smittyman finds a silver coin. Here is a pic of our hero with a coin in his good eye. I blacked out part of the scene to protect the innocent.



We went to the spot that’s been coughing up silver. I dug 84 coins in 4.5 hours. 18 wheaties showed up.



I found this 2 piece button from the Dominican Republic. Apparently they had a picket post nearby.



I got a 1938 buffalo and a 1992 British 5 pence, which I inadvertently photographed upside down. I’m too tired to redo it.



When I wiped this nickel off, it started to show silver. Bingo.

Here are the 3 silver coins I found today. Note that all have mint marks.



I have been enjoying this spot. It’s really pretty and quiet with cut turf. Coinshooters heaven.

Man, you are in Cherry Pickers HEAVEN! LOL! It's funny how I first got into metal detecting to find silver coins as I ran my bank account dry purchasing them at local auctions and coin clubs. Some where along this journey recovering some amazing old relics shifted my initial intentions and now I am sifting through trash sights, fields, and woods looking for buttons, buckles, ax heads, musket balls, marbles, etc. I certainly do love round disks with old dates on them. You do quite well plundering your area of all it's precious metals! Congrats on a great year stuffing the SHINY into your treasure chest mate!

First, wonderful finds and Second, thank you for the education as I'd never noticed the difference and was thinking that all dimes had the torch on them but there on that Mercury dime is some form of cutting implement. Thank you for sharing.................63bkpkr
