cappy, cappy ,cappy poor little corn snake. I`m sure it did scare ya, but a shovel?

I have a bunch of black racers and 2 blue indigo snakes on my property and they keep the dangerous snakes away. They feed on these invasive cuban tree frogs and I welcome them. I love it when I hear one of those frogs screaming before it gets swallowed. Now this is a real snake and one to be cautious of. I was digging at a site in Hernando county years ago and saw this cruising behind me when I reached for my water. I couldnt let this one go, my kids were out there in the woods playing. I dig with a #1 pony shovel and keep a file in my pack to keep my shovel sharp to shave the walls in the hole I`m digging. I threw the shovel like a spear and got him/her about 1 ft behind the head. I regret not keeping the head and having this stuffed. The head was as big as my balled up fist.

Hey, Cappy Z, is that a little, dinky snake or a big assed shovel? The shape and colors of the mottled areas sure looks like a moccasin. There are more colors and markings for moccasins than the red (copperheads) and dark blue-black (cottonmouths).
