Looking like a cross C type latch, where another identical unit would be affixed to the pivot and would meet up with the flat side of the arch.
I just dont see it as a gun part, as Ive been a dealer and gunsmith for several years and it just doesnt look like anything Ive seen. The curve is too profound to be that of a firearm hammer.
