Snobby woman

Thought I would share. I was detecting curb strips in the city today. Clean plugs, no left behinds as always. An old snobby woman walks up and asks what I am doing. I smiled and told her I was just looking for old coins, jewelry, anything else of interest. She turns her nose up and gets a scowl on her face. Walks away saying she's glad I'm not digging in front of HER house. She then proceeds to walk through the gate one house down, where I had just spent an hour digging 30 holes .
Gave me a chuckle!

We get it all the time, here in the area I detect they pull that crap. The sidewalk strip between the sidewalk and curb is city owned. I’ve explained this to numerous people, and they normally scoff, and say “ ugh well I mow it, so that means I own it”. I always tell them, “ no you mow it, because it makes your property look better if it’s mowed”. Then I explain the zoning, and ordinances for the city, and most of them just back off.

Only problem is don’t be anywhere near a jail or you might get tackled, by a rookie jailed wanting to gain rank when I started at the sheriffs office I chased a inmate 10 blocks on foot, then ran inside his home as he left the door open. Needless to say I had to handcuff him naked cause he changed out of his jail uniform

I always ask "have you ever metal detected? If, no I say want to give it a try." Works about 90% of the time, for the remaining 10% I use "Civil_War22" remark.
