They turned you away for buying halves???
Yeah :( they even said they had some rolls but had to save some for other customers. They said they don't want them all coming back, I laughed and told them I dump 'em at a dif bank down the road, since I do.

@huntcoinsdotcom damn I dump at my main bank which happens to never have halfs :x, but they have a free coin counter.

Do you have an account at the bank you wanted to buy them from? If you do then you need to talk to the Manager, or order box in advance. They do have other customers. You have to be courteous at banks. You are never going to get anywhere at a bank that way. My banks won't let you take close to that much coin without an account. And unless you order it, its either been picked through (see my quote) or some other customer ordered them. Happy Hunting pal, not every bank is going to be a winner. Or hospitable to our hobby/addiction/passion/obsession.

Just remember...the tellers can control the game. Treat 'em with respect. And when they do nice for you, do nice in return. Even if your getting nothing butt skunk boxes and clad handrolls bring 'em donuts, chocolates, something to let them know you appreciate them and their efforts, no matter how insignificant it may seem. They'll remember you and will become your best allies.

Case in point. I walked into a bank last Monday that I haven't been to in well over a year and a half, asked if they had halves. They all remembered me and asked "Where are the donuts?" I had to laugh. Walked out with $600 in halves they went and pulled from the coin counter. Did I mention I don't have an account at that bank? Did that at two banks that day, accounts at neither bank, tellers emptying the counters for me. Pulled 5.25 oz of silver.

Tellers are the key. Treat em like queens and they'll treat you like a king. That's been my experience. Good luck.

Oh man... bringing them donuts the best f***ing idea :sign13: I've heard all day .. I've been racking my mind how I can get on the good side of these tellers. But if I bring 'em donuts just the second time I come into the bank, is that too soon/creepy? I've been trying go secret agent on them but they just always hate anything to do with coins so much -- except for a few banks I stopped at. Even though they were very responsive and friendly, they also had the fewest coins to offer.
