I was back at it in the snow today. A little bit warmer than yesterday's -10. It was 20 and sunny. No silver but got a handfu of wheats

Just got them cleaned up and see the ever elusive 1909 Wheatie. Unfourtanetly. No s or no vdb. But my first 1909. So it was still a thrill to see that appear from under the dirt

Ha! I found one just like it a few weeks ago. It was almost.

Great find and the excitement value had to be high when you were checking for the mint mark and VDB. Good job.

got the ole heart racing for moment, seems to be a common thing for detectors but it is still a great find, my wife would be jumping up and down for anything that old

Believe its still worth around $12

I have found 2 vdb's; no S though...

Nice find and condition regardless. Most wheaties I find are wasted.

Nice wheat. Most of the ones here are toasted. Your lucky if you can read the date on them. Great job.

Happy new year
GOD Bless

Jeremy

It must be the soil here because I can date every Wheatie I have found. They need a peroxide soak to break through the crust but after that they clean right up

Not bad to find a 1909, even if no VDB. BTW, It was close to being an IH Cent as well. :laughing7:

Very nice wheat cent find!

Nice find. Although I've found a number of VDB's over the years, I found one a couple of months ago, on the beach of all places.

Nice Wheatie! You are hardcore, braving the snow and cold like that. You deserve a good find. :-)

Congrats on being close. The wheaties around here are usually a bit chewed up... that one is really nice. GL&HH.
