Just picked up some more dimes and nickels. I work in small amounts $30 dimes and $20 on the nickels. 5 of my nickel rolls and 5 of my dime rolls were CWR and so far nothing. The teller who I have spoken to about old coins even mentioned oh maybe you'll find something good in the rolled ones.
Only thing notable only to me is a 1953, old date, but besides that nothing good. Still have 5 String rolls of nickels to do. I hope I am not picking up from someones dump. Last time I only got string rolls so maybe just a chance that I got CWR today. I also wondered if that was stuff I had taken there before because I do roll coins sometimes, but will have to not do that anymore. I doubt those were mine because it was different style wrappers.

Also tried to go for some halves or large dollar coins. None available. I'd have to order a box if I wanted halves. Don't have that much $ to deal with. So not sure what to do. I know my dump bank has halves rolls sometimes but I want to stay away from picking up from my dump. Although they take loose coins at my dump. So those likely go in bags and shipped out right. The halves I got at my dump were the rolls that are crimped on both ends,Brinks rolls perhaps, I forget. So would it be worth picking up the rolls of halves there? The bank isn't going to go and roll them if they are dumped in the sorter.

You've got to pump up the volume...maybe by saving up more cash...my average for dimes is about 1/$150 searched, so, $30 in cwr won't get you much unless you're lucky.

Get creative.

Option 1:
Cash your paycheck at 9am. Pick up your box of halves, search, dump for cash, and deposit well before noon. It's not like you are spending $500, you are just swinging it - unless you find a full box of keepers. Then, you have some scrambling to do.

Option 2:
Ask your bank to order a box of halves for you with the understanding that you will take it in partials over the course of a week or so ($80 to $100 at a time until it is gone). Pickup, search, dump, repeat (vary your dump locations to limit visits to 1-2/wk).

Hell you could probably open up $30.00 in lobby and keep swapping it out until you blow through $400! lol dont do that but you now what I mean?

$30.00 dump is hardly a dump and hardly an inconvenience for any bank.

Yeah need to keep it a low # for now with using $50. I don't have much I can invest into coins right now. So I guess it could be ok to pick up halves from my dump. When I dump it goes into a coin machine so thats being bagged and going out, not like they re-roll it and distribute it back out themselves.

Go to banks in Supermarkets, Walmarts, etc.
These banks have CRW.
Just do LOTS of banks a LOT of times in one day.
Almost anyone can get CRW from these banks without an account.
Go to them all !

Working a small amount of swing just takes more work, and more gas.
Sooner or later you may hit it big with a solid silver CRW.
If you read the back posts here, you will see what I mean.

Always ask for halves and take what you can afford if they have more than you can buy.

If they don't have halves get dimes.

Forget nickles. You want to search halves and dimes.

I get paid on Friday and pick up my boxes on the way home then dump then Saturday morning and pay my bills.

As was said above, try to be creative. I try to stop at a few banks every day. If I use up all my cash I'll go to my dump bank 2 times a day some times. They have a customer run counter so they don't care how many times I go there in a day. They also know I collect coins and buy 2 boxes a week and also actively look for coins.

I started out with $200 buying as many loose coins as I could. Then I had a bank order me a box of halves and I'd go through it by buying $200 a day. I'd go through my 200 and hit the bank the next morning to dump and go get $200 more until the box was gone. By then it was a week later and my new box was in so I'd start the process over again.

I got enough halves to sell some and buy a box. Hord the finds until I could get 2 boxes a week and 2 boxes of dimes.

Now I use my paycheck and buy 2 boxes on Friday and dump the next day. I'm saving my silver again and once I have enough to sell enough to cover a box I'll start getting 4 boxes a week and do 1 a day. My bank already said they could get me $2000 a week if I want.

Dude start with pennys and work your way up by flipping the wheats and coppers on fleabay until you can afford a box of dimes or halves

Yeah probably would have more luck if I could flip coppers and wheats on ebay. But it seems ebay really isn't worth getting into now with the fees. I'd do Craigslist but I doubt there is much of a market for wheats and coppers there. I have started saving my coppers out of my pocket change(always check it now just in case there is something good) I've got to turn in these dimes and nickels. Maybe I'll turn that into $50 in pennies. If they have it, but I bet I'd have to order boxes. Usually they only have a box with loose rolls for coins when I've picked up my dimes and nickels. I'd be happy to find anything good really.

why?

Because you want to do boxes of dimes and halves (some dime boxes are 250, some 500). CWR's are good but overall they are the same hit rate as boxes. I've never found a solid, I'm doubtful I ever will and I don't think they are statistically viable in average study anyways, they are true outliers.

The way I see it is time = money.

The less stops you have to make = more time to search your boxes (or CWR, I have several vault tellers that no longer ship out CWR dimes and quarters, I pick it up once a week), but making 10-15 stops to scrounge up CWR is not a good practice. Occassionally to committ to an all day road trip has been proven to have monumental success by some members, but you might not get squat either and be out 50-100$ in gas money.

I would do extra work, mow lawns, whatever, just build up your CRHing budget and then put that money aside, make sure you can "live without it" pretend it does not exist and then start hunting!
