When I first saw this I said, "Kemo Sabe?"




Looking further, when I got it home, it has a
couple holes made into it and the inside is threaded.
Also, there's a tiny light bulb down there!




Another very interesting thing today was
finding these two in close proximity.



Fishy has some new toys.



Blingie is ecstatic with his new VERY shiny, shiny!

I'm pleasantly pooped.

I'm not so sure about it being gold. You see, that back plate? Where it's marked 14k? Well it is magnetic!
The rest isn't but the back is attracted.

Also, the lil gold piece that Blingie is guarding? It is very, very slightly attracted to a magnet. Just barely so I think it's safe to assume it's not gold.

Take the watch back off.

The magnet would be attracted to the goodies inside the watch.

WHADIFIND, the back would in fact be magnetic...remove it carefully with a rounded tip knife along one of the four corners of the case...On that Seiko design, there should be a visible 'notch' for the you to remove the back of the watch. Likely the movement is shot, but give it a look...if it is electronic, the water will have corroded it. If it is a mechanical movement, the rust will let you know. If you can get a serial # off of it, you can get a date as to the manufactuer's timeline.

The surrounding material (not the back or the watch movement) is likely the 14K. Can't tell if you have a crystal (the watch 'glass') intact, but that is a WHALE of a find. Weigh it and come back with some numbers, for those that are interested like me.

Got some nice finds, Congrats! The Seiko watch is probably gold-plated or Gold filled but I would look on eBay to see if there were any like it and the information given to help compare what you have. Given that it is a quartz movement, it is at least mid to late '60s or newer, battery powered. looks like it is water-resistant but not sure from the pic, if the crystal is intact and the back is in position with seal, if no major water leakage and the old battery was removed or has not corroded too badly, it might still run. Might clean up with a damp cloth, jeweler's cloth and see what it looks like or just take and put it in your collection and enjoy!

It doesn't say GF or rolled gold. Seiko is a huge watch company - I don't see them marking a watch 14k, and it not being 14k, either the back or the bezel.
