We keep cycling through the same information over and over, trying to extract a new fact that will shed some light on this puzzle.

Nothing new is coming out - no opinions are changing.

The only place where anything new MIGHT come from is the show. This is new activity.

The question is Is Anything We See A True Fact? that is, meets the standard of Positive Proof? Would an archeologist 100 years from now look at recordings of the show and say "that really happened"?

I have done a little research on the Origins of the Legend of "The Round Table. I think it had something to do with Corals. At some point Corals went from square to oval in History. My thinking is somebody figured out that an Oval Coral put horses more at ease than a rectangle coral. Maybe the stalions found the corners of the Coral a weak point?
Not sure the Brits had figured it out, until around the time of Boudica, The Romans brought the knowledge in from the Mediteranian.
The Brits were so impressed with this new Round Coral the legend was born from all the warriors standing around the round Corrals debating the subjects of the day.

Serious historically based efforts to look into this pretty much ended in the 1980s when exhaustive and expensive research efforts kept finding only damning recorded evidence to the contrary (of OI factoids). What does proof capable of dismissing fictions look like? I don't think it exists for people who deal in belief. They would just say to themselves: I still believe, therefore a proof was clearly not given.

If a new star appeared in the sky and set off a modern religious frenzy which would spawn links to OI then I feel we would have a grand arching template for some of what is behind the stories.

In a more positive vein, after more than a decade of work, they have found proof that people have been on the island before they started the search and evidence than holes have been dug by other people. Their efforts have been well spent in this tremendous leap forward in knowledge of the human history of Oak Island.

Its not a new phenomenon there are many famous treasure legends get flogged to death! Because its an ego treasure, not a real treasure. A self perpetrating myth sucking the unwary into a whirlpool of lunacy.

It certainly encourages the proliferation of baseless alternate history theories which Youtube also attests to in spades. I'm worried about the message we present to today's youth. Where we were clearly encouraged to develop our imaginations as youthful writers we were never encouraged to use that talent to misrepresent and undermine the disciplines that deal in history and facts in the fashion of so many who now make careers as "historical writers" doing that for economic gain.

OI is simply not reality TV unless one recognizes it as an expose about how you can exploit human suggestibility, Christian biases and boundless imagination to make money. Some are getting really bad history lessons watching this trash. The perpetuation of ideas suggesting that we know so little, and that we can insert as desired to make narratives as long as they fit on the most superficial level, hurts actual legitimate efforts to know better that are continuing slowly. Why study boring history and boring archaeology when you can just make the most interesting stuff up and promote it as the opinions of the people who accepted it after the fact. When one creates believers it is the existence of that created belief that is used to prop up the initial suggestion so often. Whatever you will suggest will work to produce a supporting faction. As often as some will test what you say, 10 will not and get on board cheering fo their team's success.

When I began participating in this PUZZLE, I had an illusion that within all the input of all participants, somewhere the truth of what happened here on this tiny little island could be ferreted out. A late epiphany for me is maybe not a treasure burial, BUT SOMETHING..

What's maddening is you get a flicker here, a glimmer there. There are some really smart questions and clever reasoning within the posts, yet somehow it has become " my way or the highway".

I still believe that with cooperative collaboration we can solve this mystery.

What mystery...?

We have an infinite number of roads to go down. If you feel it is purely a scam, the mystery might be why it appeared there and not elsewhere and why it was many individuals deep. If you feel someone was legitimately triggered and led by something, the mystery might be what that was. If you recognize motifs used, the mystery might be why those and not others. And so and so on...

We do not know there isn't multiple levels of complexity to explain the long evolution at OI (passing on of stories, for example ). What triggered Rick and Marty to be "in" on the OI narrative in the first place? Both read the same RD article and only one of them became so engrossed that he later embarked on actively taking it a face value, hauling the other along. One could speak of a mystery around how an individual can be so particularly influenced by a story that clearly wasn't targeting anyone specifically. Knowing how "spiritually" inclined Rick is, he probably thinks mysterious energies worked on him for a reason. He'd not be alone in thinking that "mysteries" choose people to unravel them. People feel called to religion. "Chosen ones" are an archetype of our thinking.

"But something else" stems from reason. We think in causal terms, and we tend to work backwards from questions which are forms properly found in mysteries. Creation implies creator, from the perspective of a Holy Royal Arch Freemason. On occasion if you poke around you will find people who have worked forward from other places and found themselves led to OI because the place answers some questions they had (Petr Amundsen is an example). How closely something unrelated can end up neatly tied to Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, might puzzle some and not puzzle others. It's a mystery to me how everyone fed the same information can experience different "illumination" from it. Obviously, it has much to do with circumstances. We all have prior exposure to things that can serve us.
