Soda Machine Clad Dump

Hey hey hey,

Do any of you guys dump your clad through soda machines? My buddy turned me onto it saying it was a quick way to get rid of a pocket full of dirty clad. I don't have a tumbler, but I find that most machines will take the dirty coins after just a rinse in water. One machine even gave back dollar bills after I put in 4 quarters and hit coin return. Has anyone ever seen any negative consequences from this? I'm sure the vendor won't be thrilled with them but it is certainly legal tender. Just wanted to get some feedback. Thanks!

Why not use that clad to BUY a tumbler? Harbor Freight sells one that works great and costs very little. Seems these ideas you're bouncing around is something else to turn people off to our hobby.

I tumble all my zincolns, if not 50 of them wont fit in a roll, with all the crud on them. Clad not so much, just dis-colored, I roll them and tell the teller they will not be good for teller trays, after that its on them

I haven't found a charity that takes bad zincolns yet. Have any suggestions?

Speaking of rolling in bad weather, not much of that down your way. Too bad I wasn't hunting when I lived in San Diego.

Our local club has someone that takes them. I'd have to find out who. I've never seen weather here bad enough where I couldn't hunt somewhere. I had one of my best days in a howling storm. I just put on the wetsuit and grabbed the waterproof detector and went for it! Definitely nobody bothered me that day!

I don't see how trying to find creative ways to convert dirty clad into spendable clad will turn people off to this hobby. I feel like being told you will need yet another piece of equipment to make this hobby work is more of a turn off. For me, there is a little more fun in this discussion than "got a problem? BUY THIS! Problem solved."

I use my clad to fight my own little political war. I love to go to government run casino’s and deposit all my clad into their VLT’s and then “Cash out” so that I end up with crisp bills and they get a pile of crud.
The government promotes gambling so I feel justified.
There’s a chain of gas stations that ask me if I want to buy “Lotto Max” after my gas purchase. This bugs me.
I already smoke and now you want me to gamble? I save the most vile coins for these places and do a “Dump and run.”
A couple of times I felt like Tom when the employee got excited with my quarter rolls, saying “Perfect! We were completely out of quarters!” As soon as they crack that roll open, I’ve disappeared faster than the speed of light!
I especially like dumping these rolls at giant corporations like Wal-mart. I have no love for banks and couldn’t think of a more deserving place for my putrid coins.
I will not buy a tumbler. I already do my part in recycling and save the mint thousands by bringing old change back into circulation. A lot of our clad WAS nickel based and dug coins are just badly discoloured but still contain precious metal.
As for the steel crap they make nowadays…..I want people to get globs of rust in their change!
The average person will not think about metal detecting but rather what crappy coins our mint and government puts into circulation.
These coins only take a few weeks in the ground before they start rusting.
The local laundry mat raised their prices on their washers, never fix any machines, and have let the place run into the ground. Where do think my black quarters and loonies will go next?
If the pressure builds too much from getting caught on my “Dump and run” (worst consequence is embarrassment) then I’ll just start going to the Coinstar machines.
In the meantime, watch out……I may hit up your neighborhood next!
