Stopped for a short hunt at a colonial site, i have hit off and on for the last year. This is the site I found the 1794 liberty cap at.
Targets are really hard to find, theres so much iron its impossible to get a good sound.
The deus shined again. I had the XP, supper fast, and high frequency, in this mode you can't get deep, but it definitely separates.
Most of the buttons were only 1 or 2inch under. But the holes are filled with little pieces of iron.
The Barber dime came in just like a little flat button sound. I couldn't believe it when that came out..
On these kind of sites you get a hit you dig!!!
Anyway thanks for looking.
George.

Now that's more like the rest of us mortals :laughing7:

I like the looks of those buttons - sites like that give up state coppers, Spanish silvers, cuff links, and early military buttons.

Looks like that nice button with the shank is a Tombac?

Looks like you may be able to get some detail off that button on the top left. Still not a bad day of digging George-silver for the win!

Thanks Jon,
That is either the back of a button or a coin? But I cant see were a shank use to be.

Nice group of finds, at least your lone silver was a barber, buttons are my next favorite thing to coins
