I was tilling a new garden in my backyard and unearthed this ax head. I have no clue how old it is so I’m looking for some help. I live in the Northern Virginia area and it was in a spot in my yard that could have been untouched for a long time, if ever. Any leads??

Looks like a blacksmith's hot cut hammer.

I'd say blacksmith tool. hole for handle don't look right for axe. Shape also don't seem right for axe.

First off, welcome to Tnet Amateur! :hello:

Tony and Icewing nailed it... or in this case, hammered it! :laughing7:

I would guess late 1800's? They were in use in the 1700's but are still used today.
