Some kind of figure

Hi,

I dug this today and it was about foot in the ground. I was wondering if any one would have a clue what this figure of a man belongs too?

It is about 5 or 6 inches long. Thanks for looking and helping if you can. First picture is the front and second picture is the back.

Well, I don't know what the item is, but I would say the Helmet type is that most usually associated with the goddess Athena. This kind of thing (but with numerous variations):

We're on the right track. Maybe show the pictures to a scholar of Greek mythology.

What a great looking find, if it were mine, I'd clean this piece up and frame it.
I'd choose a different matting though, your bath towel doesn't do this piece justice.
