Most people shy away from the desert this time of year.
Not only are the ever present gnats biting bad,
But the black flies are something to make you crazy!

But if you brave the nasties you stand a fair chance to find some rare treats.
Here are a few from one of our forays.

the cactus is really just starting.
Some Rare Sego Lillies.
And a paint brush.

 Great pics. Thanks for sharing. :icon_pirat:

Juju,
With these and a red phase sidewinder for the day,
We had an adventure.
The topper (bad pun) was actually getting to the top of the canyon rim !
took most of the day.

here is a picture of my partner that says it all.
Look at that panorama !
and only a few miles from home.

Was out for a while with Kathy today,
it has been a while for her and a couple hours is all she was up to.
But I was able to get a couple that were different.

Pretty proud of myself for sneaking Kathy into the mix with that 1,000+ year old Juniper.
She is my desert flower...
The best of all.

Thanks Wes,

I especially enjoy playing with that finial point.
Where even the slightest change gives your picture the fuzzys.

There are certain things the camera has trouble with...
The main one is any small thing, a blade of grass or a small twig...
anything gets between the camera and the main focus point,
and the camera instantly changes to focus on it rather than the objective.

An interesting challenge.
it makes some of the candid shots out of the question.

that is sad
but I'll figure it out.
