Geez between not getting in anytime to hunt and getting out for a hour here or there it seems that I don't ever get the time to post up. I tried to do a post awhile back and wrote everything out, then it got to the editing and bla-bla-bla. Life grabbed me by the arse again and down the road once again. So I'll try again to post a few of the finds from the past three hunts days.
Hunt #1 was a new permission to a early site. The farmer told me where the cellar hole was located and I was stocked! NOT! Looking at the huge tree growing up in the cellar hole I assumed that the site was early. IMG_20170806_142521186.webp I spent 3 hrs and will return maybe another day in the spring.
Finds were a 185? Half Penny Token burnt to a crisp.
An awesome horse bellP1020371.webp
Flat ( somewhat bent now) buckle.P1020373.webp
The Elgin movement is from 1894.P1020385.webp

The second hunt was at a site that I've been working on for a few years. No till farm, just rotation and drill again. I hit the iron patch corner of about a 1/2 acre or a tad larger. IMG_20170901_182424257.webp
I decided to go zero discrimination and 12 freq. Hunt was split 1 hr then 1.5 hrs in the evening
I was rewarded with an early pewter handle P1020367.webp P1020368.webp
Awesome little buckle P1020375.webp
Crotal bell laying on the surface. IMG_20170828_125446155.webp
Next was a domed button having a little design on the face.IMG_20170830_164613984.webp
Then came the bling I am not sure if this is a early one, or a family ring.
It has been subjected to a fire so the edge of the shank has melted. One stone remaining now. IMG_20170901_151437616_HDR.webpP1020361.webp
Here is photo of the maker's mark. Could it be sterling with a gold wash? P1020360.webp
I got two Vickie LCs 1890/1900.P1020391.webp
The 3rd hunt was very surprising as I changed the setting down to 8 freq. and was rewarded by the following 1857 Half Penny Token great shape (if not toco'd). 1880/1904 IH Pennies, 1880 V Nickel, 1903/1918 LCs, 1934 penny. Hunted for 2 hrs totalP1020379.webpP1020390.webp

Wow Pep you are into some great great potential there. Fantastic finds with nice age. That little buckle is gorgeous! Super solid looking and what a nice design. That pewter handle is very nice as well. I'd put a ton of time into that area

If I had found that site, I would camp out there overnight and start again at dawn.
Great finds !!
Don......

Thanks Don
There's no need to camp out its only 5 minutes away. So I can pop down for a hunt when the urge hits.

It doesn't have the really old age to it but it does give a glimpse of the older finds. I'm not sure why it started producing finds like it did maybe just the settings.
Best of luck on your next outing Abe.
