Your '23 silver cert. appears to have the signatures of Speelman and White (versus two other varieties: Woods and White and Woods and Tate). A few years ago, Speelman and White bills had a retail range of $40 in VG-8; $90 in EF-40 and $175 in UNC.

The Canal Bank began as the New Orleans Canal and Banking Company from March 5, 1831; and after several mergers finally closed in the 1930s.
