Yesterday I happened to spot an empty old house (1935) for sale a block off Main St USA. After talking with neighbors and using the tax records website I was able to come up with a phone # and also gain permission. I figured since today was supposed to be the "coolest" day of the week at a frosty 95 degrees I had better get out and hit it. My Shamwow underwear did a fine job most of the day. :tongue3:
I started out great within the first 10 minutes scoring a couple silver dimes in the same hole. Unfortunately that was about the highlight of the yard. :laughing9: I was told there was a gold ring lost in the back yard many years ago, but I found two large bottle/trash areas that kind of killed the mood. :(
I was glad to at least have the chance to knock the dust off the ol' Silver Umax waiting for cooler weather this fall.
My finds were:
*1956 Rosie
*1943 Merc
*1928-56 Wheats
*Silver pin (real silver) - Any ideas what it is supposed to symbolize? :dontknow:
*Pine State Creamery token- Good for 3 cents. (My favorite find of the day) ;D
*Beat up FOB
*Padlock, spoon, watch, etc.
*Three small glass bottles buried 1/2 way in the dirt

Thanks for looking Folks & Happy Birthday to Quindy!!! (He's 72 today) :occasion15: :occasion18: :occasion13: :occasion16:

Those are captain bars, they go on a military uniform. Great hunting buddy, Bryan in Goldsboro

That's a lot of good stuff for a Jack Wagon short hunt MM. You slightly overstated my age like you overstate how DEEP that Umax detects a coin or relic-LOL. Thanks and how many Margaritas did you drink tonight in celebration of my birthday at the Mexican place??? Q.

I got to get me some of those sham-wow under britches, do they come in 2XL? ;D
That token is way cool!
I like the bottle stopper also!
Now go back and find that gold ring!
With a fresh pair of Sham wows of course! :D

Rob,
Just be thankful they don't come in the edible variety. :tongue3:
After two bottled waters, two Gatorades, and almost stepping on another bee nest I gave up on that ring. ;D
Maybe I'll try again once it cools down.

Thanks

O.K. so I was a few years off. :laughing9: That Umax went so deep I ended up in Mexico tonight and they had two Margaritas there with my name on them. Remember.........."Tesoro" means TREASURE Amigo.
Happy Birthday Buddy!!!

That's a cool Token Doug, congrats buddy :icon_thumleft:  :occasion14:

Captian's bars are in use until at least midnight tonight. Token is cool. Usually a token without a city and state is problematic, but you should be able to find everything about it. It appears it was meant to hang on the newly delivered bottle. Could that watch face be silver, also?

I wonder if kids back then would go out in the morning a swipe a token to go to the dairy and get an ice cream cone? Naw, if they were caught, the neighbors would all smack them and then dad would send him out for a switch.

Nice score Doug. Try calling that 4-digit phone number and see who answers it :laughing7: Wow, shamwow underwear ::) Captain bars? No idea how old because they have been around a long time. Nice digs, though. Like how you obtained permission. Stay cool and get out in that heat and find some more silver :read2:

Thanks HPD.
Pine State was a local Raleigh company and folks around here love the memorabilia.
You made me go back and look at the watch. ;D Unfortunately, I can see where there silver is just plated on the face. :(
I still think schools should bring back the wooden paddles to keep kids in line starting at an early age. :o

Thanks Joe. I was hoping the yard would be full of silver since I found these two right off the bat. No such luck. :-\ The property is zoned commercial so I'm glad to have had the chance to at least detected it before it is sold and paved over.
Still would have loved to have found that ring. ;D
