Well, went back to the 1800s farm that I've been frequenting. Found this unusual tool. It looks like scissors, except they are tiny. It also have a wire running from the top to about mid way. Near the bottom, there is a type of clip, like it used to be a part of something.

Before and after pics are cool so I would suggest to soak it in water and clean it up a bit with a toothbrush for the "after" pic and look for markings.

As requested, after pic. I didn't see any markings. I also posted the reverse side of the tool:

No idea about the hay baler guide. Do you have a pic example?

Thanks for the ideas!

Maybe it was a scissor decoration and the wire was to hold it on to something :icon_scratch:

It looks like those bent wire pieces were welded onto a small pair of scissors. :dontknow: It also looks like its welded shut! :icon_scratch:

I think it is a vintage scissor pin brooch. The wires on the back could have held a thimble or some other related sewing object and/or cosmetology related. I've also seen brooches with loops to hold eye glasses as shown in the last pic, which could be the answer to the wire on your scissors. Interesting find, Breezie

I believe such things were called "chatelaines" and ladies hung their sewing accoutrements from them.

The chatelaine was used by women to attach items they used daily, not only there sewing items, but could also include a small watch, keys, letter seal, perfume bottles, note pads as examples. The chatelaine was also worn for fashion and many were very ornate which were made in silver or gold with many different designs.

Mike, well, what did you expect? LOL . . .LOL. Actually, my Momma had an eyeglass holder pin similar to the last pic, except her scissors were not as ornate and looked very much like MM's find. Breezie
