Found this awhile back and sice the weather will not allow diggin, thought I could get some background info on this. Sorry for the fuzzy pic, camera not the best.
Printing on front:
Top piece....AWARDED FOR HIGHEST AVERAGE
Bell part.....SELZ LIBERTY BELL MEDAL 1776 AWARDED FOR PROFICIENCY IN SCHOLARSHIP AND DEPORTMENT BY SELZ CHICAGO
Printing on back...DONATED BY SELZ CHICAGO
Cant really tell what it is made out of bt it is kida heavy. looks like it was something that was worn, top part on back had something attached to it
Any Thoughts?

Some info, From a shoe and clothing company around from 1820 to 1900. I just wish I could find what the award was truly for.......Ya john I need a better cam, cannot get close ups

The Selz family has had a long-standing commitment to scholarship and education. In 1903, Mrs. Mayer’s grandfather, Morris Selz, created the one of the first scholarships at the University of Chicago which continues to be awarded to the woman with the best grade point average at the end of her freshman year.
