Some type of metal, but not lead, it's to light.

These two pieces were found in seperate locations Sycamore Creek, Arizona. I am sure they are some type of metal, but not lead, they are to light to be lead. It is metal, because it set my metal detector off. My Ace 250 says it's a dime though! The dime in the photo is for size comparison.

Most likely it is melted aluminum from cans being thrown in a campfire.

That is a good possibility, I tried using the metal detector on the small piece and it said aluminum tab, but the big piece said dime . . . I guess that may be just because there is so much more metal in the big piece.

Aluminum:
Melting Point: 1220.6 °F
Boiling Point: 4472.6 °F

That was a quick solution, thanks guys . . .

Its really is a crummy thing that people will do such as throwing their empty cans in the fire. I guess they think it "disappears" when they do that. What I really don't understand is that they had to carry the can "in" full, but the can't seem to carry it "out" empty. :nono: Lazy a$$es. :sleepy2:

My pet peeve is the park and rec guys/gals that run over them with lawn mowers. They are impossible not to see and they are just too lazy to get off and pick it up. Then we have a 10 foot square area of can slaw. OK done ranting,
