Somebody PLEASE welcome me to the "big-penny" club !!!!!

I went back to the place that I got the two quarters, took my buddy with me. I ended up hitting a few nice wheats(back to 1910), a 1913 buffalo(type 1 dern it !!) and a 1960 rosie, all in all a good day.

Oh, forgot to mention, I got out of the truck walked over to the front yard, and not even ten swings in got a solid "half-dollar" reading, it popped over to "zinc penny" once or twice, seemed kinda like a halo, but it was weird, and it pinpointed dead on. So I dug it. I just about lost consiousness when I pulled it out of the dirt, I did the happy dance(the full-on epileptic fit one), and ran over to show my buddy. I couldn't get a date on it at first(turns out it's an 1842). I put one of these on my goals for the year, and I figured it would be there next year, too. I don't hear of many of these being dug around here, but I got mine. WOOOO-HOOO!!!!!

I still find it amazing whenever I find a 19th century coin. Using old maps, you can sometimes tell who may have lost the coin. My 1836 was found using a map from that period showing the name "Richards" as the property owner. I wonder how long Mr. Richards looked for his dropped copper that I eventually found 170 years later!
