Hey all! Two whatsits that have me curious, and I was wondering if anyone could help out.....
The first is the "something useful". It's iron, obviously, with an interesting shape. On the small end is a brass (I think) piece and a brass pin - I'm assuming these would be to hold a wooden handle in place, which is since gone away. Found in an area with relics going back to the mid-late 1800's through modern trash, farm site in NC.
The next is the "something pretty". The front I believe to be glass, and the back copper or copper alloy which was once gold plated. There was a stamp in the gold plate, but I can only see the odd letter here and there, so that's no help. Between the brass and the glass is a picture meant to be viewed through the glass, I think flowers, but some water damage inside has made it tough to make out exactly. Found at a site with relics going back to the late 1700's but mostly in the mid-late 1800's.
Any guesses? Thanks so much in advance!!
